Angie's Portfolio
Hello, my name is Angie Joseph-Pauline!
I come to UX/UI with 10 years of customer service, including troubleshooting customer’s online experiences. My time in the customer service field has allowed me to learn about customer pain points, not only in the customer experience with the companies but also in their interaction with different products. It has also enhanced my empathy for customers due to being the first point of contact. They would voice their main complaints and look to me for solutions. In addition, I have used many different customer service products and have listened to my coworker’s feedback of what is or isn’t helpful.
To have the customer in mind I had to learn many skills, in addition to the active listening that I advised above. I had to allow myself to be teachable. I have worked in many different fields and through them all I had to be coachable and adaptable. I found learning new perspectives to be the most enjoyable part of all these positions. I also learned how to work with my own brain.
As an individual who is neurodivergent I had to find the best way to ingest new information. At first it was a challenge because I was using tools that did not work in my favor, such as planners, and strict time schedules (that I would always miss). I eventually learned that traditional ways of working/learning did not work for me. I found that flow charts helped me understand the material more. I also learned that frequent breaks allowed my brain to reset and be fresh when working on a complex problem. In my opinion, by learning about myself I was able to become a better employee and liaison for clients.
Stepping into UX/UI I bring experience in communicating with customers and internal users alike. I have heard the frustrations of both those who trouble shoot the products and those who use them. I can use my skills to research the issue but also use empathy to work with the client to get the best results. Additionally, my ability to adapt and learn helps me take research feedback and implement it. It also allows me to accept when a product, or a part of the product, needs to be redesigned. Finally, all the things that I have, and will continue to, learn about myself will allow me to work faster and more efficiently. It will help me ingest and interpret research so my products will always be implemented in the best way possible.
